Job Title: Production Manager

Reporting to:
Operations Manager
Working Hours: Normal 8 hours (8.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m.)
Location: Industrial Area, Lunga Lunga, Nairobi
Number of direct reports: Supervisor, Machine Operators, Packers, Pickers, Sealers

Key Performance Indicators
  • Planning to ensure zero stock out (Achieve 90,000 bales target).
  • Coordinate and supervise production processes and ensure that high quality products are made in a clean environment with strict safety precautions.
  • Waste and GB to be below 2%

Main duties and responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly Production Plan based on forecast and ensure no stock outs.
  • Co-ordinate and control production staff.
  • Coordinate meetings with supervisor.
  • Prepare requisitions for Raw Materials and Packages as per production requirement and ensure availability of the same at time of use.
  • Prepare requisition for FG to WH3 after confirming physical production on floor.
  • Prepare returns and reject requisition for Raw material to various warehouses.
  • Reconcile the Jumbo with logs produced then to FG produced.
  • Ensure that machine full capacity is utilized (OEE)
  • Enforcement of Safety Regulations.
  • Ensure all required spares needed are requested using requisition forms and in due time and followed up in case of any delay.
  • Work closely with maintenance team to ensure that machines are running efficiently.
  • Sustain quality of products.
  • Check Packers, Operators and machine performance Daily.
  • Take daily actions to ensure targets are met and no re-occurring problems
  • Initiate and assist workers to achieve their goals and save costs at the same time
  • Conduct Operator’s regular reviews
  • Conduct Standard Work Audits for Operators and packers & ensure sustenance
  • Input production data into the production data system and ensure proper production records are kept.
  • Issue required stationery to production staff.
  • Assignment of duties to production staff
  • Establish and / or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules
  • Handle injury procedures
  • Prevent losses in the entire Manufacturing Process.
  • Keep staff attendance records and ensure that any overtime is correctly recorded and justified.
  • Allocate staff leave/off days as per the operational schedule.

Ensure that:
  • There is consistent decrease in Production Costs
  • The operators and packers are competent.
  • Maximum Safety is observed.
  • There is Maximum Efficiency in all production Processes
Academic Qualifications
  • B.SC./Diploma in Process Engineering
  • Diploma in Business management/Logistics and supplies
  • 2-3 years hands-on experience in a tissue paper/paper/plastics industry
Knowledge and skills
  • Knowledge of dealing with raw material for tissue paper manufacture.
  • Understanding of the dynamics of production processes.
  • Understanding of the manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of quality control and standards
  • Knowledge of the machines in tissue paper manufacturing industry.
  • Practical skills in handling shift hours in a factory.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health procedures.
  • Practical knowledge of report writing.
