China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), a state-owned corporation created and organized under the laws of the People’s Republic of China was formally established and entered the international project contracting market in 1979, and mainly focuses on the contracting of such projects as roads, bridges, ports, railways, airports, tunnels, water conservancy
projects, municipal works and dredging works both at home and abroad.

CRBC serves as an important platform for the overseas businesses of CCCC (China Communications Construction Company Ltd.)

CRBC entered the Kenyan market in 1984, and since then have completed many famous projects such as A109 road (Voi—Mutito Andei Section), Nairobi Eastern and Northern Bypass, and Mombasa Berth No. 19.

Currently, CRBC is undertaking Mombasa—Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway. To support local capacity building, technology transfer and availability of personnel with appropriate skills, CRBC has already trained more than 17,000 Kenyans for SGR design, construction, operation and maintenance.

As one of the training programmes, CRBC is now offering full scholarship for 100 outstanding Kenyan students in three batches on four-year railway- related undergraduate study in China, and the study will be concentrated on civil, mechanical and electrical engineering.

Since the first batch of 25 students has been well trained in China, the corporation is ready to start selecting the second batch of 35 students.

The scholarship is fully funded by CRBC, and is aimed at developing a spectrum of technical management skills required for SGR construction and subsequent operation and maintenance.

Applications are invited from interested and qualified candidates who sat for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in 2014 and/or 2015 and attained the following or above grades:

Mean = B Plain

Mathematics = B Plain
Physics = B Plain
English = B Plain

This batch of students is scheduled to start the study in February 2017.

1. Kenya certificate of secondary education (KCSE) Result Slip
2. National identification card
3. Birth certificate
4. Certificate of good conduct
5. Form IV school leaving certificate
6. Letter of recommendation from last school attended
7. Letter of reference from local chief
