Employment Opportunities in IEBC - VOTER REGISTRATION ASSISTANTS



The IEBC offers temporary positions of Voter Registration Assistants (VRAs) to carry out the mass voter registration exercise from February-March, 2016. The exercise will take 30 days and will involve a total of 2,878 officials who will be based at the Ward level. The VRA’s will support the Constituency Registration Officers and Deputy Registration Officers to register new voters.
Requirements
  • The requirements for the Voter Registration Assistants are as follows:
  • Be a Kenyan citizen of high integrity, and be non-partisan
  • Be holder of a minimum of Diploma qualifications in ICT or other IT related field.
  • Access to an android smart phone and basic operation of the same is an added advantage.
  • Should have effective communication skills and good report writing skills
  • Must be available for the entire period of voter registration
  • Age: 21years and above
  • Must be residents in the constituency and ward in which they apply for and must quote the same on the application letter and envelope
Duties of the Voter Registration Assistant
  • The Voter Registration Assistant expected to work within a particular ward and perform the following duties:
  • Publicize the registration activities and movement of the kit within the ward.
  • Opening and Closing the registration Centre at the designated time
  • Ensure security of the BVR kit Conduct voter registration
  • Report the Registration progress to the Registration Officer
  • The Voter Registration Assistant MUST meet the weekly registration targets.

i) Professor
 
Qualifications:
  • PhD Degree in the relevant field from a recognized University
  • At least twelve (12) years of university teaching, five (5) of which as full-time Associate Professor
  • At least four (4) articles in refereed journals since being appointed as Associate Professor
  • Successful supervision of at least four (4) Masters students and at least two (2) PhD students since being appointed Associate Professor
  • Evidence of successfully applying for a grant either individually or as a group since being appointed as Associate Professor
  • Evidence of active participation in departmental activities and good quality teaching
  • Evidence of attendance and contribution at learning conferences, seminars or Workshops
ii) Associate Professor
 
Qualifications:
  • PhD Degree in the relevant field from a recognized university
  • At least eight (8) years of university teaching, four (4) of which as a full-time Senior Lecturer
  • Successfully supervised at least four (4) Masters students and one (1) PhD student, since being appointed as Senior Lecturer
  • At least four (4) articles in refereed journals since being appointed as Senior Lecturer
  • Evidence of successfully applying for a grant either individually or as a group since being appointed as Senior Lecturer
  • Evidence of active participation in departmental activities and good quality teaching
  • Evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or Workshops
iii) Senior Lecturer
 
Qualifications:
  • PhD Degree in the relevant field from a recognized University
  • At least five (5) years of university teaching, three (3) of which as full-time Lecturer
  • At least three (3) articles in refereed journals since being appointed as Lecturer
  • Successful supervision of at least three (3) Masters students since being appointed Lecturer
  • Evidence of applying for a grant either individually or as a group since being appointed as Lecturer
  • Evidence of active participation in departmental activities and good quality teaching

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree from a recognized university
  • Additional qualification in Management, CPS or equivalent will be an added advantage

C. Terms of Service:
 
A. Full - Time Appointment:
 
The terms of service for the above include a generous medical scheme, house allowance and commuting allowance.
Successful candidates will be offered two (2) year renewable performance - based contract. 
Gratuity will be paid at the end of the contract.

B. Part – Time Appointment:
 
Lecturers interested in Part – Time teaching should clearly indicate so in their application.

They will be engaged on pre-determined hourly rates.
